<subfield code="a">First published in 1719, Daniel Defoe's novel Robinson Crusoe is sometimes also considered as the first English novel. It is loosely based on the life and story of Scotsman Alexander Selkirk. He was a Scottish castaway who lived more than four years on the Pacific island that was called Mas a Tierra. Later, in 1966 its name was changed to Robinson Crusoe Island. After the success of Robinson Crusoe, Defoe wrote a sequel to it as well, titled The Further Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. The present book brings for young readers an illustrated story of the manner in which Robinson Crusoe spent 28 years of his life on a remote island.</subfield>
